What’s God’s plan?

With the world…

There was a terrorist attack just this week in Nigeria, where the terrorists attacked a church while the service was still going on.
In the videos that later went up on the internet, we saw the bodies of victims, some as young as 3 riddled and bloodied by the bullets of the terrorists. The number of casualties varies, some report 30 while others place it as high as 80.

This is only the most recent of the attacks of this kind that happen on an almost daily basis in Nigeria.
Just in March, a train was attacked, leading to the deaths of people, and others abducted, many of whom still remain in captivity.

These events take us through the motions of feeling sad, angry, and numb over and over again. And in these times we begin to wonder what God’s plan for us is if there is any plan at all.

And so it’s even more important in times like this to be reminded that God is for us and that he does have a plan.

The bible tells us that:

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?”
Romans 8:35 NLT

And it goes on to say in verse 38 that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.

Why then do these things happen?

Why the sadness and pain? These are just the effects of living in a fallen world, and they are bound to happen to everyone at one point or the other.

But through it all, we know God loves us and that He has a plan.
And His plan is that we would have lives filled with His peace, His love, and His joy.
This is His plan for us here on earth, and in eternity.

And how does he bring this plan to pass?

To achieve a world of perfect peace, love, and joy, there needs to be a change of our hearts.

This is because within every human heart are sown the seeds for all that is wrong with the world, selfishness, hatred, envy, etc. And until we surrender our hearts to God for him to change, the world will not change.

Because true change cannot happen with just a change of actions, but a change of heart. And that can only be brought about by God.

And He has done this by coming to earth as a man, and taking our sins on Himself and paying the price for our sins. This is important because by merely believing that God gives us his Holy Spirit who begins His transforming work in us.

And through this work peace is produced in our hearts, as is love and joy.

This is God’s plan for us, this is His plan for you!

So what do you say?
